Architecture exhibitions at RIBA

Our exhibitions programme looks closely into architectural movements, styles and ideas throughout history. Exhibitions and displays, including our world-class collections, can be found at 66 Portland Place in London and at 懂色帝 on the Liverpool waterfront.

RIBA President's Medals 2024

4 December until 15 February 2025: Awarded since 1836, the President's Medals are RIBA's oldest and most prestigious prizes in architectural education. Explore the students' talent through a display of drawings and models in RIBA's Practice Space

Raise the Roof: Building for Change exhibition

Visitors saw new creative works that unpack narratives of gender, race and imperialism at 66 Portland Place. This exhibition ran from 27 April until 21 September 2024.

Exposing the Barriers in Architecture, from a FAME (Female Architects of Minority Ethnic) Perspective

FAME collective鈥檚 research and exhibition are explored through an intersectional feminist lens to amplify the underrepresented voices in architecture. This exhibition ran until Monday 20 May 2024.

Wide-Angle View

Architecture photography exhibition at 66 Portland Place, London exploring the eight ground-breaking issues of Manplan that sparked a revolution through print. This exhibition ran from 26 February to 6 April 2024.

Japan Stories: an exhibition of photographs

This free exhibition showed modern Japan through the eyes of three very different photographers who have experienced everyday life there. Each photographer's work reflects different aspects of a nuanced and multi-faceted society through images of its architecture. This exhibition ran from 11 October to 18 November 2023.

The Architect has Left the Building

This exhibition presented a dual-screen film installation, weaving together moments of architectural joy and intimacy drawn from the professional archives of renowned photographer and filmmaker Jim Stephenson. This exhibition ran from 3 June 2023 to 12 August 2023

Cities of the Night

RIBA hosted the Royal College of Art for a second year, showcasing three artists Rut Blees Luxemburg, Alisa Oleva, and Chooc Ly Tan in this multi-media exhibition. This exhibition ran from 1 June to 29 July 2023.

Monica Pidgeon 1960-1970: a Magazine Editor and her Camera

This exhibition showcased the photographic work of Monica Pidgeon, revered editor of Architectural Design between 1946 and 1975. This exhibition ran from 3 March to 27 May 2023.

Long Life, Low Energy

Long Life, Low Energy demonstrated how the principles of the circular economy can help create more sustainable, net zero architecture for the future. This exhibition ran from 27 October 2023 to 14 January 2024.

Out of Space

OUT of Space was an exhibition organised by the RIBA LGBTQ+ Community internal group, and the RIBA Library and Collections team to highlight contributions of the LGBTQ+ community within architecture and the built environment. This exhibition ran during February 2023.

RIBA Journal Eye Line 2022 drawing competition - winners' exhibition

The winners' exhibition for Eye Line 2022, the RIBA Journal's annual drawing competition celebrating the best works from the UK and further afield. This exhibition ran from 11 August to 8 October 2022

Radical Rooms: Power of the plan

Radical Rooms: Power of the plan explored the power relations embedded within the layout of our domestic spaces. It uses stories from architectural history and highlights moments when the architectural plan has challenged or changed the conventions of domestic life. This exhibition ran from 28 April to 24 September 2022

Future Archive at RIBA

As part of London Festival of Architecture, RIBA hosted the Royal College of Art (RCA) Future Archive project. Future Archive was a bespoke exhibition that gathers artworks, texts, and conversations from the Future Archive artistic research laboratory, led by artist Rut Blees Luxemburg. This exhibition ran from 1 June to 16 July 2022.

Becontree centenary

In partnership with Create London and London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, we delivered a year long programme of artistic and architectural commissions, events, learning programmes and an exhibition to celebrate the east London estate. This exhibition ran from October 2021 to February 2022.

Freestyle - Architectural Adventures in Mass Media

Freestyle - Architectural Adventures in Mass Media was our first virtual reality exhibition, created by design studio Space Popular. This exhibition ran from 2 July to 4 September 2021.
